What we are looking for

Occupational Health & Safety OHS is a key Business Unit within SHIELD, ensuring that policies are effectively implemented which support compliance with International standards, EU and Maltese regulatory requirements.

A critical component of the role is communication with all stakeholders, including client top management as well as other cross-functional teams in today’s dynamic operational environments. This approach ensures that adequate resources are allocated to implement OHS at any workplace. The role includes the following responsibilities:

Implementing SHIELD OHS management strategies, direction and policies with the goal of protecting client’s employees and regulatory compliance.
Conducting Safety Inspections, with relevant reports.
Conducting OHS risk assessments, with relevant reports.
Ensuring OHS compliance.
Developing and delivering OHS related Tool Box talks.
Participating in site OHS audits.
Providing clients with assistance in tracking and closing of audit observations, including in the use of audit software.
Communicating effectively with all relevant stakeholders, verbally, in writing and through various media.
Participating in investigations following incidents and accidents, including lessons identified and learned are shared as appropriate and that corrective actions are taken to remediate the root causes.
Working with SHIELD’s bespoke software solution for OHS Risk Management.

Candidates shall demonstrate personal competence on the basis of the following professional qualifications and attributes:

NEBOSH International General Certificate in OHS, and/or
An equivalent (or higher) qualification from the University of Malta.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the OHS field.
Experience in working with International Safety Standards – must be demonstrated.
Hands-on experience working in OHS in at least one proven context:

Displaying an ability to influence
Strong communication skills
The ability to work across management functions
Strong leadership skills
The ability to work independently

High familiarity with and proficiency in basic computing applications:

MS Word
MS Powerpoint
MS Excel
E-Mail
Device Management
